Re the video uploaded to YouTube Oct 7th 2024.
A lot to consider but maybe prudent to back story things a little. Mahmoud Abbas was elected as Gaza's leader in 2005 & then banned elections. So he's 19 years into a 4 year term. Protestors oddly omit this or quietly support this. Might mean as Ben suggests, Australia may not be the country for you.
The cries he's not from Hamas is odd seeing Hamas massively flourished since Israel left Gaza in 2005.
Yes Israel left Gaza but Israel didn't just leave, they forcibly removed all Jews/Israelis from Gaza.
They even exhumed the dead & buried Israelis & took them out of Gaza. The idea that Israel surrounds & is strangling the border of Gaza is an odd one too.
Why is there conspicuous ommission of Egypt who also share a border with Gaza...with a heavily fortified wall?
And how did Israel come to "occupy" Gaza in the first place...a direct result of the 1967 Six Day War. That began when Egypt's leader Gabel Abdel Nassar announced the closure of the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping. Kinda like "strangling at the borders" huh? Kinda because it was.
Odd irony that in 2007 Egypt began its blockade of Gaza and is never mentioned
Really odd irony that one side can start a strangling Israel which culminates with those stranglers arriving at FAFO result.
Today, well Pre Oct 7th 2023, Israel wasn't strangling & gets piled on.
Then comes Oct 7th & a brutal war is launched by Hamas where civilians were deliberately targeted & somehow its the fault of those who were attacked. Somehow its the fault of the innocent unarmed dead civilians. Somehow its their fault?
Really odd additional omission is there have been 5 nearly successful attempts of achieving a 2 State Solution. Came right down to nearly picking up of the pen & who do you think pulled out every single time? Even when some signings involved Israel actually giving up land to get the 2 State Solution signed? Who pulled out? Wasn't Israel.
No it's not likely not going to end in the lifetime of anyone even born today, likely not going to end in 100 years when one wants peace and the other has a chosen movement called Hamas (or more properly Islamic Resistence Movement) who in their charter they clearly set out not only destruction of Israel but that the so called 3 Abrhamic Religions can coexist in the Middle East but only under complete Islamic rule.
Not really what we call a free society model.
If you support that then perhaps Australia isn't really the country for you.
If those protesting around Australia so deeply want a full Middle East wide caliphate, that is a powerful (religious) Theocracy...maybe Australia isn't the country for them.
Oddly its not mentioned, whilst there can be tensions amongst religions, in Israel you can be Arab or Jew or Muslim or Christian...there is no over reach religious government.
Reading the Articles of the Hamas (Islamic Resistence Movement) is an eye opener.
Article 31 "It is the duty of the followers of other religions to stop disputing the sovereignty of Islam in this region, because the day these followers should take over there will be nothing but carnage, displacement and terror."
Not really peaceful negotiations.
It's a definite call to arms.
To bring a caliphate or die. Peace, truce is not entered into, caliphate or die.
If you support that then perhaps Australia isn't really the country for you.
Article 36 - "The Islamic Resistance Movement adopts Islam as its way of life. Islam is its creed and religion. Whoever takes Islam as his way of life, be it an organization, a grouping, a country or any other body, the Islamic Resistance Movement considers itself as their soldiers and nothing more."
By all means, be pro-Palestine & pro Peace but unless you are equal measures Anti Terrorist Organisations you are probably, quite rightly, be regarded as a terrorist apologist, terrorist enabler or part of their resistance here. Yes, Ben Harvey is quite right, if you feel so strongly then don't protest, emigrate to Gaza or the West Bank. Supporters could emigrate to the Middle Eastern countries that DO take refugees from Palestine or the Middle Eastern Countries that DON'T take refugees from Palestine. Oddly its the latter that is a much, much longer list.
If you support the "River to the Sea" you are supporting the complete destruction of Israel & replacing it with complete Islamic Religous Rule where those religions, non Muslim religions will have to do as they are told by an Islamic Theocracy. Should point out that would only be step one. Step 2 means they as a caliphate would then turn to their Scriptures and all would have to convert to Islam. There is another option. It's not good at all.
If you support that then perhaps Australia isn't really the country for you.
So yes, HAMAS is a declared terrorist organisation. If you support Palestine/Gaza's right to exist as a free society, a sovereign nation but you do not oppose HAMAS in equal measures then you are either a lazy thinker or a Terrorist Apologist, a Terrorist Enabler or wilfully a Terrorist Supporter.
If this is you then perhaps Australia isn't really the country for you.
Be brave & be honest, do as Ben suggests...emigrate to the Middle East.
